Amalie Beljafla was born on the 11 of may 1991, to a well respected family comprising of a Norwegian Mother, who is a well known homeopathic physician, and a pioneer and entrepreneur in her own right, and to a Emarati father of strong linage in the UAE. Amalie is trilingual and can speak three languages fluently Arabic, Norwegian and English with ease and can understand Danish and Swedish. Being the older child, she has two younger siblings, Yousef Beljafla and Andreas Skogen the youngest.
Amalie Grew up in Dubai however, spent most of her summers in Norway, where her mother originates from. Growing up with two drastically different cultures it has had an interesting impact on Amalie's artwork.
The most inspirational person in Amalie’s life has and will always be her mother, Dr Sofie Skogen, who has inspired her to reach beyond all boundaries that most people place on themselves.
Cultural differences have played a major part of her artwork, which also encompasses her ideas of life along with her spirituality.
After graduating from Dubai International Academy with an I.B diploma, Amalie moved to London to pursue her degree at London's prestigious art university, Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in 2009. Having completed a foundation degree in Art and Design, she continued her BA in Graphic Design, finishing with an honours degree in June 2013. In June 2015 she graduated with masters in Communication and Design also from the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design.
She has collaborated with various artists as well as fashion designers, and in 2012 ventured out to start her own fashion house, Trésors Sauvages, www.tresorssauvages.com. In 2014 Amalie started her own swimwear and resort brand called AMALIE, www.amalieresort.co.uk to be launched summer 2017. Her latest venture, an amalgamation of the above, is “The Artisans”, www.theartisans.ae, which will become the umbrella of her past collaborations and set the path for her future collections.
In 2014 Amalie published her first book called ' For You ' www.amaliesbook.com, with Hay house and Balboa Press to implement positive thinking for children and adults alike, and to serve as a reminder to everyone of all you can be, proceeds from this book goes towards charity.
Amalie says '' When you work with your heart in the right place and with love, integrity and honesty, nothing can go wrong, you can by grace divinely, God willingly create anything you want in your life no matter how big it is, all is possible”.
